Fluconazole is used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections, including vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush, oral thrush), esophageal candidiasis (candida esophagitis), other candida infections (including urinary tract infections, peritonitis [inflammation of the lining of the stomach], and infections that may occur in different parts of the body), or fungal (cryptococcal) meningitis. It is also used in children on life support called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This medicine works by killing the fungus or yeast, or preventing its growth. Fluconazole is also used to prevent candidiasis in patients having bone marrow transplants who receive cancer or radiation treatment.
Direction to Use:
DIFLUCAN® ONE is administered orally. Use in AdultsFor vaginal candidiasis, fluconazole 150 mg (DIFLUCAN® ONE) should beadministered as a single oral dose. Side Effects

Do not use fluconazole if you have a known allergy to fluconazole or any other components of this medication. Do not use fluconazole if you are taking the antifungal medication, it is not known if fluconazole is safe and suitable for patients with a history of mycosis, or if a patients condition such as meningitis has been previously treated with it. Use with a caution in patients with a history of meningisbrilitation. Fluconazole should not be used in patients who have had a heart-disease implant or in patients who have a history of myocardial infarction because it can worsen the meningisbrilitation symptoms. Use with caution in patients with a severe liver problem. Fluconazole can increase the risk of liver damage and it can increase the risk of a heart attack if you are also taking heparin or warfarin. Use with caution in patients with a very low blood cell count. Fluconazole can increase the risk of bleeding and it can increase the risk of infection. You should not give fluconazole to any patient with a known history of these conditions unless your doctor tells you to. Use with caution in patients with a very low platelet count. You should not use fluconazole if you are taking the antifungal medication it is not known if fluconazole can increase the risk of liver damage.
Thrush is a fungal infection, commonly caused by a type of yeast called candida. Although candida is naturally present in the body, an imbalance can trigger thrush symptoms. Fluconazole 150mg (also known as Diflucan and other brand names) kills certain types of fungi and restores your body's natural balance.
Fluconazole treatment for thrush is simple - just one capsule to be swallowed with a glass of water. You can take this medicine at any time of day, with or without a meal.
Women taking fluconazole should see an improvement within a few days. Some women will notice improvement in 24 hours.
For men, the condition can take a little longer to clear up. The symptoms should clear up within a few days, although this can take up to a week.
